How it works

Your image is decoded and redrawn through the Canvas API, then re-encoded in the target format. Since JPEG has no transparency channel, converting a transparent PNG to JPEG fills the transparent areas with white first — the same default behavior as most image editors’ “export as JPEG.”

FAQs

What happens to transparency when converting to JPEG?

JPEG doesn’t support transparency, so any transparent areas in your original image are filled with white before conversion — this is disclosed here rather than left as a silent surprise.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API.
