Formula
Every unit is converted through grams as a common base: result = value × (factor of "from" unit) ÷ (factor of "to" unit). The imperial factors are the exact international avoirdupois definitions:
- 1 ounce = 28.349523125 g (exact)
- 1 pound = 453.59237 g (exact, 16 ounces)
Worked example: converting 1 kilogram to pounds: 1000 ÷ 453.59237 = 2.204623 lb.
